The Digital Divide
The Problem: The Digital Divide (click here for a definition) The Digital Divide
The rate of technological change is accelerating and with it comes unprecedented benefits to mankind in every imaginable field. Those who have access to this technology and possess the ability to utilize it have the opportunity to transform their lives. Unfortunately, millions and millions of people around the would do not share in the advantages that technology can bring. Some call this the digital divide. The chasm is growing between those who are digital natives and those who are digitally underprivileged. Not only is this chasm widened, but it is deepening as technology advances. Without adequate the access to and capacity to utilize information and communication technology, emerging economies and marginalized populations risk to fall further and further behind the rest of the world. Most importantly, they are not able to avail themselves of the transformative benefits that technology can bring.

The Solution
:
Billions of dollars are spent around the world to address this important challenge. It is not a question of resources it is a matter of applying best practices from the private and public sectors to the benefit of those who need it most. Through collaboration, cooperation and partnerships, digital illiteracy can be a condition of the past. The Digital Alliance Foundation was created to bridge the digital divide, connecting the resources of the private and public sectors to provide information and communication technology education for all.
