The Genesis of the Digital Alliance:
Many years ago I used to work for Novell Education. At the time, it was the largest ICT certification and education organization in the private sector - and Netware 3.0 was in high demand in the market. Not surprisingly the need for certified expertise to plan, install and support this sophisticated technology was also in very high demand around the world. This was the foundation for the Certified Novell Engineer or CNE program.

Although we delivered millions of courses and certification tests around the world through an innovative network of partners and ultimately achieved an impressive number of certificants (around 400,000 at the time), I was most impressed by a small subset of those achieving their CNE certification.

I most vividly recall the emotional and meaningful impact of certification candidates who struggled from challenged backgrounds in India or South America to achieve their certifications. Upon notification of receiving their CNE certification, they would often report that they were overcome with tears of joy. With that valuable certification in hand, their lives would be transformed. By so doing, the lives of their families and communities were also impacted as they were able to begin to earn more than ever before.
